• Ingken & Hinrich Baller Building Lietzenburgerstrasse Berlin

    Inken and Hinrich Baller

The work of architects Inken Baller (born 1942) and Hinrich Baller (born 1936) has shaped the cityscape in many parts of Berlin. Between 1967 and 1989, the architects ran a joint architectural practice in Berlin, focusing on social housing. Between 1970 and 1989, they completed around 22 buildings in this segment in West Berlin. In 2023 they received the BDA Grand Award. The buildings bear witness to the transition from modernism to postmodernism in architecture and urban planning. They sparked…

    La Fábrica

In May this year, I had the opportunity to visit Barcelona and its many beautiful architectural sights. Top of the list were Walden 7 and La Fábrica – both located next to each other, albeit with a different approach by Ricardo Bofill. While Walden 7 was built and designed by Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura, La Fábrica is a remodelling of a building. Ricardo Bofill’s Adaptive Reuse of Industrial Space La Fábrica in Barcelona is an example of adaptive reuse…

The images I took of the show flat from the Tertianum retirement home apartments are published in the online issue of AD Germany. Stefan Flachsbarth One of the two Architects from bfs design was interviewed by the AD. It is all about how to live in a retirement home when you are used to living quite luxurious, and how the Tertianum managed to give the inhabitants space as beautiful and comfortable as they have been used to before.

    Arne Jacobsen Bungalow in Hansaviertel

Last year I was invited to photograph this little treasure. One of the bungalows in famous Hansaviertel. The bungalow is one of the ones built by Arne Jacobsen. The owners living there today are the ones moving in then. They told me between them and the bungalow a relationship has grown and they don’t feel like inhabiting or owning, but rather taking care of the heritage of timeless and thoughtful design and architecture. In all those years so many things…

This behind the scenes is for another beautiful project I photographed for dopo domani Though often when I photograph a residence people have just moved in, the place isn’t filled with life just then. So I do creat this life. I bring books and flower, I am the light and the breeze that…
